News From the Elders: January '23 Recap
THANKFUL FOR THE 2022 CHRISTMAS MISSIONARY OFFERING
In keeping with our tradition at RCC during the Christmas season, we took a special love offering for our supported/endorsed missionaries. As a result of RCC’s generosity and support, this special “above and beyond” love offering generated over $65,000. Thank you for reflecting the love of Christ to our missionaries through your faithful and generous gifts.
HONORING SANCTITY OF LIFE WEEK
In honor of Sanctity of Life week (January 15-22, 2023), RCC engineered a Right to Life display on the southeast corner of our campus (corner of Hageman and Calloway). The huge display featured the words, “God Creates Life”. The key verse supporting the light display was Psalm 139:13, “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.” We were honored to reflect our commitment that all life comes from God and is sacred.
CELEBRATING BAPTISMS AT RCC
Five of our people at RCC publicly proclaimed their faith and trust in Jesus through the sacrament of Baptism on January 15. Baptism is a public display of an inward heart change that occurs when one puts their faith and trust in Jesus as Savior and Lord. The next baptism opportunity scheduled will be at our Easter Service on Sunday, April 9, 2023. If you are interested in being baptized, contact the church office (589-9733).
ENCOURAGING LUNCH WITH NEWCOMERS
On January 29 the Pastoral Staff and Elders hosted a Newcomers Lunch. The gathering is designed for those who have just started attending RCC in the past few months. Over 25 adults and children attended the lunch and heard about who we are at RCC, where we believe the Lord is leading our church in the future, and how to get connected in our church body.
SENDING JENNIFER LAYBOURN BACK TO THE MISSION FIELD
At our worship services on January 29, the RCC body prayed for and commissioned one of our supported missionaries, Jennifer Laybourn, to return to the mission field after a furlough time of training and visiting family and friends. Jennifer returned to her assignment in Cambodia on January 30. She serves with Engineering Ministry International (EMI) and uses her engineering degree and commitment to Jesus to influence the Church and design profession worldwide. If you are interested in contacting Jennifer for more information about her ministry, you can reach her at Jennifer.Laybourne@emiworld.org.
FY 2022-23 GIVING UPDATE
The Lord has been very gracious to RCC and allowed us to stay on track from a giving perspective through the month of January 2023. Through the first four months of the current Fiscal Year (October 2022 - January 2023), we are only $ 6,083 under our budget projections.
Actual Y-T-D $927,717
Budget Y-T-D$933,800
Giving Surplus $(6,083)
“Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever.”
